One man died and two sustained serious injuries after the car they were travelling in fell into a 300 metre deep gorge in the Sahiya area of the Vikasnagar block, Dehradun district on Sunday morning. The officials informed that the injured were rushed to the Sahiya Community Health Center (CHC) with the help of an ambulance, where doctors provided first aid before referring them to a higher centre for advanced treatment.
According to them, Sunil and his two companions Ravi and Himanshu were traveling from the Sahiya-Kwanu motor road towards Bhupoo village in Vikasnagar to attend a wedding ceremony on Sunday. However, the car reportedly lost control near the Bhupoo-Gamri road and veered off the path, falling into a deep gorge at around 6 AM. Upon hearing of the incident, nearby villagers rushed to the scene. The officials said that as per eyewitnesses, Sunil died on the spot while the other two passengers were severely injured. The villagers immediately informed the local administration and emergency services. With the help of the locals and police officials, the injured were retrieved from the gorge and brought to the CHC by ambulance. The injured men were admitted in critical condition. After receiving primary treatment, they were referred to a higher centre for further medical attention. The officials said that the victims were the locals and their families were informed about their accident.
