Dehradun police have arrested one more accused in the killing of university student Divyanshu Jatrana in Premnagar after a violent clash between two groups. Police also sealed two restaurants—Baba Ki Rasoi and Hotel Champaran—on Thursday, as the dispute is believed to have started there.
Earlier, three accused—Yuvraj Kumar, Madhur Khandelwal and Shivam Sharma—were arrested and sent to jail. On Thursday, police arrested another accused, Ankit Bhardwaj, who had been absconding since the incident. He was caught near Nanda Ki Chowki, and a stick used in the fight was recovered from him.
The murder took place on the night of March 23 in Kehri village. The injured youth was first taken to Premnagar Hospital and later referred to Government Doon Medical CollegeHospital due to his serious condition. He died during treatment.
According to the police, it was found that the youths from both groups were students of Uttaranchal University in Premnagar and had an old rivalry over dominance in the institution. This was the reason behind the verbal dispute which escalated into violence between the two groups. Police said that efforts are still on to arrest other accused involved in the case.
