A double-decker bus carrying passengers from Ballia to Haridwar and Rishikesh overturned on National Highway-58 due to brake failure at PWD Tirahe in Munikireti police station area.One woman died while the rest of the passengers were injured in the mishap. A total of 65 people hailing from Uttar Pradesh were traveling in the bus.
An injured passenger Mayur Mehta said that about 5:30 PM on Thursday, the bus overturned due to brake failure.The passengers were travelling back from Neelkanth Mahadev temple and were slated to travel to Vaishno Devi temple in Jammu. The mishap resulted in the death of Indu (50). Three of the injured passengers were sent to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh while the rest were being treated in the government hospital in Rishikesh.
