In latest news from Doon, the online and offline registration for the mega sports event –Khel Mahakumbh-has started. A senior State sports ministry officer said that the offline registration is being done at the designated grounds and the nearby government offices, adding that the event would be launched at the gram panchayat level and then progressively move to block, district and State levels.
It will be inaugurated in Almora district on October 4 and end on January 30, 2025. The main objective behind holding this event is to identify the youngsters with sports talent, hone their skill through admitting them at sports schools and colleges and prepare them for participation in national and international level sport competitions. Further, such training will help their recruitment in paramilitary and police forces.
