Opposition committed sin by thwarting women reservation bill: CM

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that the opposition parties have committed a great sin against the country by thwarting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts to empower women. He said the Nari Shakti Vandan bill was put in the Lok Sabha to provide 33 per cent reservation to women in the legislative bodies but due to lack of members, the bill was not passed in the Lok Sabha.
The CM was addressing a Women Jan Akrosh rally at Parade Ground here on Friday. He also participated in an Akrosh March from Parade to Clock Tower.
He said that the opposition parties conspired to take away the rights of women. He said that the women of the country will definitely raise their voice against injustice because now women have become aware of their rights. Dhami averred that PM Modi has considered women’s power as the foundation for building a new India and has taken many measures to empower the women.
He said that the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Abhiyan, the Ujjwala Yojana and the Jan Dhan Yojana have connected millions of women to the banking system and empowered them. The women are also being empowered through the Lakhpati Didi Yojana and by eliminating the evil practice of triple talaq. Dhami said that inspired by the PM, women are coming forward in every field of the country. “A daughter from the tribal community has reached the highest constitutional position in the country. Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has been given the important portfolio of Finance,’’ he said.
He said that the State government is also working dedicatedly for the welfare of women. The CM added that the State government has provided 30 per cent reservation to women in government services. Uniform Civil Code has been implemented in the State for the safety of women and protection of their rights Dhami said that more than 2.65 lakh women in the state have become Lakhpati Didi.
Rajya Sabha MP Mahendra Bhatt, Tehri Lok Sabha MP Mala Rajyalakshmi Shah, MLAs Savita Kapoor, Asha Nautiyal and Renu Bisht, the president of Mahila Morcha Ruchi Bhatt and others attended the programme and the rally. Large number of women workers of BJP attended the rally.
