Opposition parties should publicly apologise to farmers: Nishank
Union Education minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ said that the new farm laws had been passed to empower the farmers and increase their income. However, opposition parties are misleading the farmers on this issue. He said this while addressing the media in Haridwar on Tuesday.
The minister opined that opposition parties are unable to digest how the Modi government is working in the interests of farmers. In the name of farmers agitation, the Congress and other opposition parties are trying to score political brownie points. They should publicly apologise to the farmers, said Nishank.
He said, “In 60 years, the Congress never cared about the farmers and is now opposing the farm laws introduced by the Modi government to make the farmers self reliant and free them from the clutches of middlemen. The BJP has always been a well wisher of the farmers with the Central and State governments according top priority to the interests of farmers. This is why the farm laws were brought as they will result in a major rise in their income.”
Nishank said that through these farm laws, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has provided real freedom to the farmers from the restrictions they faced while selling their produce. However, it is unfortunate that opposition parties are working to mislead the hard working farmers. “The Congress ruled this nation for so many years with this system of lies and now when its foundations have been shaken, it is misleading the farmers. However, our farmers are wise and hardworking, and will not be duped by the Congress. The farmers are being given disinformation to confuse them. They are being told that they will lose their land whereas the fact is that they were and will remain the owners of their land. The PM has clarified that MSP will continue as before but it is highly condemnable that farmers are being misled regarding MSP too,” he said.
