The State Meteorological Centre has issued an orange alert regarding the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning/hail/ gusty winds (wind speed up to 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph) likely to occur at isolated places in Dehradun, Tehri, Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts on Saturday. A yellow warning has also been issued regarding the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning/gusty winds (wind speed up to 40- 50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph) likely to occur at isolated places in the remaining districts of the State. Apart from this, light to moderate rain/thunderstorms/snowfall (at 3300 metres and above) are likely to occur at many places in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts today. Light to moderate rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at a few places in the remaining districts of the State.
The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a partly to generally cloudy sky. Very light to light rain/thunderstorms accompanied by lightning/hail/gusty wind (wind speed up to 40-50 kmph) are likely to occur. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 30 degrees Celsius and 17 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.
