Order issued for SETU formation, abolishing planning commission

In latest Dehradun news, as part of resolutions approved by the State cabinet, the State government has issued order for the formation of SETU (State Institute for Empowering and Transforming Uttarakhand) on the lines of NITI Aayog at the Centre and from now, the State Planning Commission which would act as the premier think tank of the State government in the realm of policy framing, would function under SETU. The State government will appoint six advisers for SETU Aayog. While the chief minister will be its chairman, the State planning minister will be the vice-chairman. The State government will recruit its chief executive officer from the open market. Moreover, all the State ministers will be its members. Informing this, the State planning secretary R Meenakshi Sundaram said that the chief secretary, the additional chief secretary and all other secretaries holding important positions will be its full-fledged members. He further said that the first board meeting would be held following the recruitment of the CEO and it will function from a new office which will be set up soon.
