Over 4,000 police and 15 companies ensured systematic vote counting in LS elections

The vote counting process for the Lok Sabha elections was completed in a peaceful and lawful manner under tight security arrangements in all 13 districts of the State. The department had deployed 4,000 police personnel of the State along with 10 companies of the State armed police force and five companies of the central paramilitary force to ensure the safe conduct of the voting process across the State on June 4, the inspector general of police and spokesman of Uttarakhand police Nilesh Bharne said. He said that it was a challenging task to conduct the Lok Sabha elections safely in the entire State but the police prepared a proper security plan and ensured safe conduct of the Lok Sabha elections on April 19. He said that for the vote counting day, all respective police in-charges had made three-tier security arrangements at all the vote counting centres across the State as per the order of the Election Commission of India (ECI). It included anti-sabotage checks, the installation and usage of door frame metal detectors (DFMDs) at entry and exit points while ensuring that the whole place is under CCTV surveillance for safety purposes. Besides keeping the top-notch security arrangements at the vote counting centre and nearby areas, the police also successfully executed the traffic plan prepared by each district police due to which the commuters did not have to face massive traffic jams and related issues. Bharne said that police personnel at every level dedicatedly discharged their duties from the announcement of the election till the end of vote counting on June 4.
