The Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) on Saturday demolished illegal plotting spread across more than 50 bighas of land and sealed an unauthorised building on Mussoorie Road. MDDA vice chairman Banshidhar Tiwari said that the authority is continuously monitoring illegal colonies and unauthorised construction activities across the city. He warned that strict action will continue against those violating development rules.
According to officials, the enforcement team first reached Tapovan Enclave, Cross-11 Road, where illegal plotting was being carried out on around 20 to 25 bighas of land without approval from the authority. The team demolished the unauthorised development during the operation.
The MDDA team also took action in Mandakini Vihar at Brahmanwala Khala on Sahastradhara Road. The officials said that illegal plotting was being carried out on another 20 to 25 bighas of land in the area. The authority removed structures and development work related to the unauthorised colony.
In a separate action, an under construction building on Mussoorie Road in the Galjwadi area was sealed after it was found to be in violation of development rules.
Tiwari advised people to verify all legal approvals before purchasing land or starting any construction work. Enforcement drive actions will continue in the future to ensure planned development in the region, Tiwari added.
