Police yet to identify unknown accused
The Nainital police are yet to identify more than 50 unknown accused who allegedly vandalised shops owned by people belonging to a minority community in the Haldwani block of the Nainital district. The police on Tuesday booked over 50 unidentified people for allegedly vandalising shops of people belonging to a minority community in Haldwani.
The people who vandalised the shops were reportedly infuriated over the recent alleged love Jihad cases in the district besides other offences allegedly committed by members of the minority community. The police circle officer of Haldwani told this correspondent that a case was registered against over 50 unidentified people at the Mukhani police station under sections 147 (punishment for rioting), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 355 (assault or criminal force with intent to dishonour person) and 427 (mischief) of the Indian Penal Code for vandalising shops of Muslims. He said that the police are investigating the matter and are yet to identify people involved in vandalism.
The probe is being conducted and the police will take action accordingly, added the CO. It is also pertinent to mention here that Uttarkashi police are also yet to make any arrests regarding the posters put up outside the shops operated by people belonging to a minority community in Purola allegedly threatening them to vacate their respective shops in the area. It was reportedly done by people belonging to Hindu groups over an abduction attempt of a local minor girl by two men one of whom belongs to a minority community. The senior officials have claimed that the police are probing such matters while ensuring that harmony, law and order are maintained in the respective areas.
