Overtaking attempt injures three tourists in Doon

Three tourists from Rajasthan sustained injuries in a car accident near the Shiv Mandir, ahead of Kuthal Gate in the Rajpur area, while reportedly attempting to overtake a vehicle from their own convoy on a sharp turn in the wee hours of Sunday.

The officials informed that people from Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan were travelling in three cars to Mussoorie. Preliminary inquiries revealed that the accident occurred on a sharp turn when the driver of a car attempted to overtake another vehicle from its own convoy. The officials said that the police acted swiftly upon receiving the information and rescued the injured passengers and transported them to the hospital for immediate medical attention.

It was revealed that the driver lacked sufficient experience in navigating mountainous roads, which likely contributed to the mishap. The companions of the injured confirmed that the driver does not consume alcohol, ruling out intoxication as a contributing factor, as per the officials. The Dehradun senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh also visited the accident site and visited the injured as well.

He said that the prompt action by the police not only ensured the safety of the injured but also highlighted their efficiency in handling emergencies. He said that the police are active at every checkpost and main road across Dehradun district to ensure road safety and maintain law and order in view of New Year celebration.
