In latest news from Dehradun, the State election commission has issued the notification regarding the by-elections to be held in the vacant seats in the three-tier panchayat system. As per the notification, model code of conduct has been enforced in the areas where the bypolls would be held and it will remain in force till the completion of the process. The bypolls will be held for the vacant posts of the village panchayat members, village heads, panchayat samiti members and district panchayat members. While the nomination papers can be filed on September 20 and 21 these will be scrutinised on September 22 and nominations can be withdrawn till September 23. The polling will be held on October 5 from 8 am to 5 pm.
