Panchayat representatives should work to make Haridwar ideal district: Dhami

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami attended the swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected Haridwar district Panchayat president Rajendra Singh and vice president Amit Kumar here on Tuesday. He exhorted all the Panchayat representatives to work for facilitating development in the district as per the expectations of the public. District magistrate Vinay Shankar Pandey administered the oath of office and secrecy to the president and vice president while the other members of the district Panchayat were administered the oath by the Panchayat president. The chief minister also inaugurated the plastic waste management plant built at a cost of Rs six crore at Mujahidpur Satiwala, Bhagwanpur on the occasion.
Congratulating all the newly elected Panchayat representatives, Dhami thanked the people of Haridwar stating that the victory of the Panchayat representatives in the elections marks the start of a new chapter in the development of the Haridwar area. He exhorted all the district, block and other Panchayat representatives to take development works forward according to the expectations of the people. He said that Panchayat representatives act as a bridge between the public and the government. They plan an important role in facilitating development works. The chief minister said, “Our government will work to make Haridwar an ideal district. For this, the focus will be laid on developing tourist facilities, basic infrastructure and employment oriented schemes in the district. In addition to being a global spiritual centre, Haridwar also provides employment to lakhs of people in the industrial sector.” He said that all the Panchayat representatives will deliberate upon development works for their areas so that Haridwar can become an ideal district.
Dhami further said that Uttarakhand is making consistent progress under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The work culture of ‘transform, reform and perform’ is being seen across the nation.
Haridwar MP Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ said that the representatives being elected unopposed is historic for Haridwar district. This win is the stamp of approval put by the people on the development works being executed under the guidance of Prime Minister Modi and leadership of CM Dhami, he said. Nishank opined that Dhami is expediting the execution of development works across the State. Cabinet minister Satpal Maharaj also expressed his views on the occasion.
