The Vigilance department on Thursday arrested a Panchayati Raj officer of Rudrapur Ramesh Chandra Tripathi for allegedly taking bribes.
The authorities arrested him after catching him red-handed when he was taking a bribe of Rs one lakh from a man, who had filed a complaint against him to authorities, as per the officials. They said that the complainant had complained to authorities via toll free number 1064 after which the officials made a plan to catch Tripathi red-handed.
The complainant was reportedly sent to a parking lot in Rudrapur to offer him the bribe which the officer accepted after which, the vigilance officials arrested him. The officials said that they are investigating the matter.
