Pandemic, Assembly polls affected new ration card distribution – Arya

The department has now set a target to distribute all ration cards by July this year

The Food and Civil Supplies department has distributed 12,58,544 digital ration cards to the beneficiaries in the State. There are a total of 24,02,851 ration cards in the state.  The Food and Civil Supplies minister Rekha Arya informed the house on Wednesday that  the process of making the new ration cards started in the state on June 29, 2020  and initially a time frame of three months was set for making these cards. However the pandemic of Covid-19 and the Assembly elections of 2022 affected the work. Giving more details the minister said that till May 30, 2022 the districts had received 13,46,632 new ration cards after printing and out of them 12,58,544 cards have been distributed to the beneficiaries.  The minister claimed that the department has now set a target to print and distribute remaining ration cards to all the families by the end of the month of July.
