Parents and daughter die in road accident in Almora

A three-year-old girl and her parents died when the car they were travelling in fell into a 300 metres deep gorge at Chachroti in the Salt area of Almora district on Tuesday morning. Their 11-year-old son who was also in the car sustained serious injuries and is currently under treatment. The victims belonged to Roorkee in Haridwar district and were going towards Deghat in Almora when the accident occured. The officials informed that the district authorities received information about the accident and called the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) of the Sariapani post at the spot to carry out a search and rescue operation. The team reached the spot under the supervision of inspector Rajesh Joshi and started the rescue operation. The team first rescued injured Arnav (11) and sent him to the hospital for treatment. They later retrieved the bodies of three persons identified as Munendra Singh and his wife Shashi Saini along with their daughter Aditi (9). The officials said that the bodies were handed over to the district police who will hand over the bodies to the family after carrying out required legal procedures. They said that it appeared during the primary inquiry that the driver lost control of the car and crashed it into the gorge. The matter is under investigation, they added.
