Three family members were sent to jail on Thursday for allegedly harassing their senior citizen neighbour in the Sahastradhara Road area on charges of causing hindrance in the government’s work. The officials said that a senior citizen named Subhash Singh, a resident of the Sahastradhara area of Dehradun arrived at Mayur Vihar Police station on Wednesday and complained that a family in his neighbourhood allegedly harass him daily by using abusive words and throwing rocks and bricks at his home. He claimed that they have been threatening to kill him and he might have to leave that house to save his life.

The police station in-charge assured him of action in the matter but the complainant said he would not budge from the station till the police act against his neighbours as they might kill him if he returns to his house. Considering this, a police team went to meet the neighbours to investigate the matter along with the complainant. As soon as they reached the spot, the neighbours including Ved Prakash, his wife Sunita Devi, daughters Vandana, Neha and Prachi along with their minor brother started abusing and fighting with the complainant in front of the police.

The police tried to calm them down and asked them to cooperate with the police but they refused to listen due to which, the police arrested them, as per the officials. The police charged the parents along with their daughter Neha for creating hindrance in the government’s work and arrested them after calling the police force at the spot. They were presented before the court on Thursday after which they were sent to jail, added the officials.
