The PARI Foundation on Monday in association with Yati Skates organised a programme to felicitate women from different walks of life with the Achievers Award on the occasion of International Women’s Day. The vice chancellor of Doon University Surekha Dangwal and the president of the Himalaya Drug Company S Farooq were the chief guests on the occasion.
Addressing women at the event, Dangwal said that women of Uttarakhand, especially those living in mountainous areas, have always been quite strong and empowered. She said that women are the ones who manage everything from household to agriculture while the men from here serve the country in the army or go to other cities for job opportunities. She said that women are the reason the State has universities and a strong education system. Farooq also said that women are the backbone of every household and society and their contribution must be acknowledged and recognised. Neuropsychologist and founder of PARI Foundation Sona Kaushal Gupta also said that though women tend to manage everything from household to career, they are not superwomen. They are also human beings who do get tired and they should ask for help when they think they need it like others, said Gupta.
Women who were felicitated at the event were Patricia Hilton, principal of Hilton School, advocates Renu Singh and Trishla Malik, journalist Purnima Bisht of The Pioneer, YouTuber Ruchi Gupta and social activist Akanksha Joshi among others.
