Part of Malari highway washed away, work underway to restore traffic to border areas

A portion of the Joshimath-Malari national highway was washed away near Lal Bazaar following heavy rain in the region. The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) is working to reopen the highway for traffic movement. A portion of the highway to Malari, about six kilometres from Jyotirmath collapsed on Thursday morning following heavy rains in this region of Chamli district. The highway has been closed since then. This has affected movement to the border regions in Chamoli district. The authorities have started work on repairing the road.
