Partnership forged to develop smart innovation hub in Asia

In a step towards advancing global cooperation in smart city development and innovation, the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee (IIT Roorkee); Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority (IFEZ), South Korea and World Smart Cities Forum (WSCF), United Kingdom, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish a collaborative framework for the development of a smart innovation hub in Asia.
The MoU was signed by the commissioner, Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority (IFEZ), South Korea, Won-sok Yun; president, World Smart Cities Forum, UK, Jaeown Peter CHUN and dean, Sponsored Research and Industrial Consultancy, IIT Roorkee, Akshay Dvivedi in the presence of IIT Roorkee’s deputy director U P Singh at the ‘Sarvottam Uttar Pradesh’ event organised at IIT Roorkee’s Greater Noida extension centre.
The minister for IT & Electronics, Government of Uttar Pradesh, Sunil Kumar Sharma said that the collaboration was a strategic initiative that resonated deeply with the Prime Minister’s vision for a digitally empowered and economically vibrant Uttar Pradesh.
The director, IIT Roorkee,Prof K K Pant virtually participated in the event and stated that this collaboration represented a pivotal opportunity for IIT Roorkee to contribute to a global movement that leverages technology and innovation for sustainable urban development. Yoon Won-seok and Jaewon Peter CHUN also addressed the programme.
