Some families who own houses in Geetanjali Residency society near Bahadrabad in Haridwar have accused Patanjali founders Baba Ramdev and Acharya Balkrishna of encroachment on their properties. They have also alleged that the officials have even cut water and electricity connections allegedly to intimidate them into selling off their houses.
Addressing the media at the Press Club on Friday, one of the home owners Naveen Sethi said that this society was spread in about 2,00,000 square yards adjacent to Patanjali Yogpeeth. He bought one house through the builder in 2007 in the society and by 2016, there were about 150 houses out of which, the builder had sold only 18 houses, said Sethi. “There were parks, temple, clubhouse and other facilities too for which we had paid to the builder. In 2016, the builder sold the remaining area of the society along with these facilities to a trust of Patanjali founders and mentioned in the agreement that facilities like electricity, water and pathway of the 18 houses will remain the same unless the owners sell their properties to the trust,” alleged Sethi.
Another owner, Keshav Juyal claimed that some people who work for Patanjali intimidated some families due to which, many have left the place. He alleged that the trust has constructed a very high road and gate just outside their houses. The owners alleged that local authorities have also failed to do anything due to Ramdev’s influence. They said that they have written to the Prime Minister, chief minister and district magistrate about the issue but nothing concrete was done in this matter. According to them, they have filed a case in the court but they wanted the public to know how they are being harassed. They also added that they will meet the CM about this matter soon.
