To mark the 78th Independence Day, Yoga guru Swami Ramdev and Acharya Balkrishna hoisted the national flag in the presence of a large number of ascetics, teachers and students.
In his address, Swami Ramdev said that they were taking a pledge on the occasion to continue striving for educational, medical, economic, cultural and ideological freedom aside from liberating the country from the scourges of disease and addiction.
He stressed on the need to rebuild the nation’s educational foundations on its glorious academic and cultural heritage. “We will sow the seeds of such education through Patanjali Gurukulam, Acharyakulam, Patanjali University and Bharatiya Shiksha Board so that the new generation of the country gets emancipated from the Macaulay-conceived academic system,” he added. He also spoke of giving the people freedom in the field of medicine by carrying on with the movement launched through the foundation of Patanjali Wellness, Yoga Gram and Niramayam.
Balkrishna said that Patanjali Yogpeeth remains engaged in building a robust India on the fulcrum of the dreams dreamt by the heroes of the freedom movement, martyrs and revolutionaries.
Students of Patanjali Gurukulam, Acharyakulam and the University of Patanjali presented patriotism-inspired cultural programmes. Some scholars from neighbouring Nepal who have been in Uttarakhand were among those present on the occasion.
