Saturday, 05 OCTOBER 2024 | VINOD CHAMOLI | NEW TEHRI
The Surkanda Devi temple committee has initiated the renovation of the one and a half kilometre long bridle path which has been in a dilapidated condition for many years. To improve the path to the temple, interlocking tiles, railings and sheds will be used on the route, which will make it easier for devotees to reach the Surkanda temple located on Surkut mountain in the Dhanaulti area. Devotees visiting the temple have to walk one and a half kilometres from Kaddukhal. A cable trolley was installed to reach the temple. However, most of the devotees prefer to reach the temple on foot. The dilapidated condition of the path has been a problem for the devotees for many years now. The condition of the path also posed the risk of visitors tripping and injuring themselves. The locals and devotees had been demanding necessary repairs. Now the temple committee has started the required work. Interlocking tiles are being used on the path. Along with this, railings are also being installed for the safety of children and the elderly. Sheds are also being made to provide shelter from rain and sun. The temple committee officials state that work has been completed on about one kilometre stretch.
