PIONEER NEWS SERVICE | Haridwar

The Health department has issued a notice to four noted pathology laboratories and imposed a penalty of Rs 50,000 on a hospital following a report published in The Pioneer regarding anomalies in pathology labs. The Haridwar chief medical officer Dr RK Singh said surprise inspections were conducted in various laboratorites and various irregularities were found in four of these.

A qualified pathologist or doctor was not found in four of the labs apart from the fact that a trained expert to operate the lab was also not there. The operators of these labs were served a notice and directed to reply within three days. If the reply is found to be unsatisfactory, the labs will be penalised and if there is no improvement even after that, action will be taken to get such establishments closed, the officials said.
