Pauri DM asks officers to remain in top gear during Kanwad Yatra

Pauri district magistrate Ashish Chauhan has directed the officers of the departments concerned to go all out to ensure that the Kanwad Yatra that has started on Tuesday passes off peacefully.  “The devotees must not be inconvenienced in any way during their Neelkanth Shravan Kanwad Yatra in Yamkeshwar block of the district,” he said. Notably, the DM himself has been supervising all the arrangements being made by the district administration to make the religious Yatra safe and smooth.

While staying in Laxman Jhula to supervise arrangements, he found that many hand pumps were not functioning properly and instructed the executive engineer Jal Sansthan to have them repaired within 12 hours.

It is pertinent to mention that the DM inspected the Neelkanth  road through which the Yatra would pass and then directed the officers concerned to make fool-proof arrangements for medical facilities, drinking water supply,   cleaning toilets and proper sanitation in the entire mela area.

Chauhan also instructed the police, revenue, disaster management and forest department officers to keep the inter-departmental communication system working round the clock. He further said that there must be sufficient number of employees in charge of the control room set up in the mela area for 24 hours a day. He stressed on preparing a duty roster system so that the employees can work in three shifts.

Earlier, on June 30, the DM had said that he would inspect arrangements and during inspection, if negligence was found in the preparation process, the officers concerned would be held to account for it.
