The Pauri district police on Wednesday arrested an absconding rapist , a resident of Dhampur ( Bijnor) Uttar Pradesh for sexual assault on a minor girl in Kotdwar town.
According to police information, a resident of Kotdwar of Pauri district had lodged a complaint in Kotdwar Police station on December, 5 last year. The report stated that Aakash had sexually assaulted his minor daughter, due to which she became pregnant and gave birth to a child in the government hospital. The accused is a relative of the complainant.
The Kotdwar police registered a case against Aakash under section 376 of the Indian Panel code and relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) act on the complaint.
Taking cognizance of the crime against minor girl a reward of Rs 5000 was announced on the absconding accused. A team under the In -charge of Police station Kotwali, Kotdwar, Vijay Singh was constituted to arrest the accused. The police team with the tips and surveillance was able to arrest Aakash near Bank colony in Kotdwar on Wednesday. The police are collecting the crime history of arrested accused.
