Pauri police issue challan to 10 guardians for underage driving by minors

The Pauri police have started a drive against the guardians of minors found using vehicles illegally in various parts of the district. The police have challaned 10 guardians after their wards were caught for underage driving. The vehicles were seized and a total challan of Rs 25,000 was imposed.
It is pertinent to mention that on the instruction of police headquarter to take action against the guardians of minors for underage driving the Pauri senior superintendent of police Shweta Choubey instructed all the police station in-charges in the district to take action against underage driving. During the drive against underage driving, from December 5 till Friday10 minors were caught for underage driving in the district.
These include three cases in Srinagar, four in Kotdwar and one in Pauri. The police issued challans to the guardian/owner of the vehicle being used by the minors and the vehicles were also seized. The police issued warnings to the guardians of the minors against letting their wards indulge in underage driving. If the minor found driving the vehicle again in the future, stricter legal action will be taken against the guardians under which there is a provision for upto three years imprisonment or fine of Rs 25,000.
