The Cabinet minister Chandan Ram Das has said that the spark for the movement for a separate state of Uttarakhand was ignited by the Pauri district. Das, who also is the minister in charge of Pauri district, participated in a programme organised on the occasion of 23rd State foundation day of Uttarakhand at Ramlila ground here on Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion he said the State government is committed to provide the benefit of the social welfare schemes to the persons standing last on the social ladder. He assured that the necessary budget would be allotted for the under construction Ransi Stadium in Pauri. Das also instructed the District Magistrate (DM) to select the land for the purpose of a new bus depot in Pauri.
The minister also paid tributes to statehood activists who sacrificed their life in the struggle for a separate state of Uttarakhand.
