Strongly criticising the alleged death threat made to Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and his family by the BJP candidate from Chintapur Assembly constituency in Karnataka, Manikanta Rathod, the Pradesh Congress Committee president Karan Mahara has lodged an FIR in the Kotwali police station here and has demanded that a case be initiated against the accused.
Providing this information, the PCC vice president (Organisation and Administration) Mathuradatt Joshi said that the party’s State general secretary Lakshman Singh Negi lodged the FIR as a representative of the PCC chief. Mahara has stated in the FIR that the Congress party workers are hurt by Rathod’s misbehavior towards the party’s president. He also demanded that a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code should be lodged against the accused. Joshi opined that the BJP has realised that its defeat is certain in the Karnataka Assembly elections. Its candidates have started behaving like hooligans but the public will give them a befitting reply in the election, he added.
