The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara and Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the State Assembly Yashpal Arya have expressed deep sorrow and anguish on the deaths of pilgrims in the bus mishap at Damta in Uttarkashi. In a statement the two leaders said that the many people met with an untimely death due to the tragic accident. “We can understand the pain and grief of the family members of the deceased. Though we cannot reduce their sorrow we are with them in this hour of pain,’’ the duo said.
Terming such road accidents as a bane for the roads in the mountainous areas of the state, PCC president Mahara said that efforts should be undertaken to prevent them.
The LoP Arya said that strict security measures should be undertaken by the state government since the Yatra season is going on in the state.
