PCS officer Gaurav Chatwal took charge as the joint secretary at the Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA), a position that had been vacant for some time.
The MDDA vice chairman Banshidhar Tiwari has assigned him the responsibility of hearing commercial building cases in sectors 1 to 12. He said that until now, executive engineers were handling these hearings due to the absence of an appointed officer. With Chatwal’s appointment, the hearings are now being conducted by an authorised official. He stated that it will make the hearing process more efficient and help expedite the resolution of cases.
Chatwal also said that following the instructions of the VC, he will be conducting hearings regularly from 10 AM to 5 PM. He said he is available to address public complaints and has appealed to residents to begin construction only after getting the building plans approved. He added that if a construction has deviated from the approved map, it will be considered for regularisation based on merit and legal provisions. He stated that the MDDA is committed to curbing unauthorised constructions in the city.
