PDS shops to sell Mandwa flour; millets to be part of MDM

In an important decision the state cabinet approved the plan for setting up the State millet mission in the state. The CS Sandhu said that a work plan with a budget of Rs 73 crore would be made for promotion of millets in the State. He said that the Mandwa (finger millet) would be procured at a rate of Rs 35.78 per kg from the farmers.
The government has also decided to provide one kg of Mandwa flour per ration card in the PDS shops of the districts of Dehradun, Haridwar, Udham Singh Nagar and Nainital. Similarly Mandawa and Jhangora would also be given to the students in the Mid Day Meal (MDM). In another decision the cabinet decided that the fortified milk would be provided under the PM Poshan Yojana for two days in a week. It was also decided that 285 special educators would be appointed in the education department to teach specially abled children at homes.
