The Bharatiya Janata Party has stated that the protest staged by the Congress against corruption was a baseless political drama. The people are now bored of the dramas being staged by the Congress, the BJP stated. The BJP State media in-charge Manveer Singh Chauhan said that the party has already welcomed the Uttarakhand High Court order regarding a Central Bureau of Investigation investigation into the Horticulture department scam. The State government had earlier directed a probe by a Special Investigation Team into the scam. He said that as in the past, the Congress is trying to exploit this development as a political opportunity but it will not gain anything from its attempt.
Chauhan said, “If the Congress government hadn’t protected the corrupt involved in scams during its term in office, most of the cases would have been with these investigation agencies. This is the reason why most of the Congress leaders are under investigation by the CBI or other agencies in some case or another. Such cases used to be suppressed in the past but now the government is working with transparency,” he claimed. He further averred that the State government under chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is working honestly to lend speed to development works. Swift action is being taken in any case wherein there is any cause for suspicion. It is due to the government’s zero tolerance for corruption that time period, position and influence are being put aside in such cases. Even senior Congress leaders have appreciated Dhami, Chauhan added.
The BJP State media in-charge said that like the general public, the Congress should also welcome the manner in which the State government is ensuring progress in probes in cases where there is even a little bit of suspected corruption. “The Congress needs to do justice to its role of a constructive opposition. The situation would not have reached the current status had the Congress not been supportive of corruption. The Congress finds faults in all sincere and effective efforts of the government to check corruption. This is the reason why the people have maintained a distance from the party. The Congress will now enjoy the rewards of its political drama but will rather face the consequences,” Chauhan said.
