PHH & AAY ration card beneficiaries to get 50 % subsidy on salt & sugar: Arya
Wednesday, 17 May 2023 | PNS | DEHRADUN Food and Civil Supplies Minister Rekha Arya has said that the department will bring the proposal of providing 50 per cent subsidy for beneficiaries of priority household (PHH) ration cards and Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) ration cards getting sugar and salt under the public distribution system. She stated this in the review meeting of the department held on Tuesday.
She said that she had stated in the last meeting that the department has been considering providing a 50 per cent subsidy to beneficiaries who will get two kilogrammes of sugar and one kilogramme of salt every month as both ingredients are used daily in every household. Arya had directed the officials concerned to draft a proposal for the same to present it to the state government. She reviewed the progress of the proposal in the review meeting on Tuesday and directed the officials to complete it soon to present it to the upcoming cabinet meeting.
Several issues were discussed in the meeting including problems in operation of biometric machines in several fair price shops, strengthening all godown storing ration across the state, problems faced by ration dealers along with the progress report of wheat procurement. On the issue of the pending payment of dividend to ration dealers in fair price shops under National Food Security Act, (NFSA) 2013, the minister said that the State government will allocate the amount immediately after getting a budget for the same from the central government
