Pickup falls into ditch in Salt, 5 injured

Five people were injured when the pickup truck they were travelling in veered off the road and fell into a ditch in the Salt area of Almora district on Friday. One of the injured is stated to be critical.
According to information received from police, the driver of the pickup- number UK 19 CA 1126- Sakam Singh alias Sonu, a resident of Sarai Khet, was transporting labourers to work in the Salt area. About three km from Dotiyal village, the vehicle suddenly lost control and plunged into a deep ditch. A total of seven people were aboard the bus when the accident occurred.
Upon receiving information about the accident, local villagers and a police team arrived at the scene and launched a rescue operation. All the injured were evacuated and sent to the community health centre, Dewaiyal, Salt, where they are currently undergoing treatment.
The seriously injured has been identified as Subhash (22), a resident of Nepal.
