Pilgrim deaths- Congress takes out candle march

On the call given by the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara, the Congress members took out a candle march in Dehradun on Saturday to pay their homage to the pilgrims who have lost their lives in the Char Dham Yatra. The Congress members assembled at the headquarters of the Congress party and then marched to the Darshan Lal Chowk. They then organised a condolence meet in the Panchayati Mandir Dharamshala. The media in-charge of Uttarakhand Congress Rajiv Mehrishi said that hundreds of the pilgrims have died so far in this year’s Char Dham Yatra due to the negligence of the government.
In the condolence meeting the leaders expressed deep anguish and concern on the road accidents in the mountainous areas and death of people especially the pilgrims. Paying homage to the dead, the Congress leaders said that the state government is not serious for the Char Dham Yatra. The Congressmen claimed that there is no medical facility, drinking water facility and staying arrangements in the Char Dham Yatra route.
The Vice President administration Mathuradut Joshi, general secretary organisation Vijay Saraswat, Rajendra Shah, Navin Joshi, Godavari Thapli, Garima Dasauni and others were present on the occasion.
