Pithoragarh medical college to be linked with medical tourism

The Uttarakhand government has decided to make the upcoming medical college in Pithoragarh as a model medical college and link it with medical tourism. Informing about the plan of the government the chief secretary (CS) Radha Raturi said that Pithoragarh medical college is one of the dream projects of chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.
The CS took a meeting of the Expenditure Finance Committee (EFC) of the amended project of medical college Pithoragarh at her office in Vidhan Sabha on Monday. In the meeting she directed officers of the medical health and family welfare department and the Uttarakhand Peyjal Nigam (UPN) to work on the plan for Pithoragarh medical college with dedication. The UPN is the work execution agency for construction of the building of the medical college.
Discussing every point of the project in detail the CS said that Pithoragarh medical college is an ambitious plan of the government and it would be associated with medical tourism after its completion. She said that the work execution agency UPN has amended the project of the medical college as per the norms of the National Medical Commission (NMC). She also directed that a night shelter for the poor should be set up in the teaching hospital of the college.
The UPN is working on an amended plan of the project to construct Pithoragarh medical college with an estimated cost of Rs 768.89 crore. The project has been amended to make it as per the norms of the NMC and Indian Public Health Standard.
The meeting was attended by secretary R Rajesh Kumar, SN Pandey and other officers.
