Plains to remain hot, rain to bring relief in mountains

Dehradun and other places in the State witnessed relief from heat wave conditions on Sunday following a spell of rain on Saturday night. The temperatures remained high in the plains but were below 40 degrees Celsius. The weather is likely to remain similar on Monday. The State meteorological centre has forecast that light to moderate rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts today. Dry weather is likely to prevail in the remaining districts of the State. The meteorological centre has also issued a yellow warning (Watch) regarding the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied with lightning/gusty wind (30-40 kmph) likely to occur at isolated places in the mountainous districts of the State on Monday.
The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a mainly clear to partly cloudy sky today. Thunder cloud development is likely to occur in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 39 degrees Celsius and 24 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.
The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various parts of the State on Sunday were 38.6 degrees Celsius and 21 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 38.6 degrees Celsius and 26.6 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 27.5 degrees Celsius and 11.9 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 28.3 degrees Celsius and 18.2 degrees Celsius in New Tehri.
