PM calls Dhami, assures help in tunnel collapse rescue

In latest news from Uttarakhand, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi called up the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami soon after he was informed of the tunnel collapse incident in Uttarkashi district and Dhami apprised him of the situation there. The CM later wrote on his social media post that the PM had assured the State government of all assistance required to rescue the labourers trapped in the collapsed part of the tunnel. He further wrote that the Union government has ordered the central agencies to assist the State government in the rescue operation. Meanwhile, the Uttarkashi district magistrate Abhishek Ruhela cancelled leaves of all the district officers and ordered them to report at their respective working places immediately. Besides, he directed the officers to remain on the alert mode round the clock. The ADG law and order A P Anshuman said that so far no report of casualty has been received. It is learnt from sources privy to the developments that the incident happened around five in the morning and the tunnel caved in at a distance of 200 meters from its entrance on the Silkyara side.
