Terming the speech of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at IDPL ground in Rishikesh as discouraging for people of Uttarakhand, the State unit of the Congress party has said that the PM evaded burning issues of the State in his address. The chief spokesperson of Uttarakhand Congress, Garima Dasauni said that the Congress has requested PM Modi to speak on Ankita Bhandari murder case, rising unemployment in the State, increasing resentment in youth against the Agnipath scheme and investigation in the Silkyara tunnel mishap.
Dasauni said that in December last year thousands of people had gathered in Dehradun on the demand of stringent land laws in the State. She said that the BJP government removed the ceiling on purchase of agricultural land in the State in 2018 due to which land in the State was grabbed by outsiders. The Congress wants the PM to answer as to why the rights of local people were snatched.
Dasauni said that the crime against women in the State is increasing and the law and order situation is deteriorating with each passing day.
The Congress leader said that the Modi government had started the Namami Gange project in 2014 with much fanfare. She claimed that the studies have shown that the water quality of the Ganga has deteriorated despite spending thousands of crores of rupees.
