PM interacts with Haridwar fisherman virtually

In latest news from Uttarakhand, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as part of the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra, interacted virtually with the beneficiaries of the Central and State government’s welfare schemes from a gram panchayat under Narsan development block in Jhabrera Assembly constituency in Haridwar district. Notably, the PM interacted with the people from States like Tripura, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu and Uttarakhand virtually on the day. In course of his interactive video conferencing, Modi talked to a fisherman Bhudev Singh (49) who also grows wheat and sugarcane in his farmland. Asked whether he was benefiting from any government scheme, Singh said that he had been availing benefit from the PM matsya sampada yojana for the past one and half years. He further told the PM that his margin of profit had increased substantially since his switch to breeding fish from complete dependance on traditional farming of wheat and sugarcane. While lauding Singh’s efforts in the direction of doubling income, the PM urged others to add fishing and bee farming to traditional farming to increase their incomes. While participating in the programme, the Haridwar MP and former Union education minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ said that with swift implementation of the development projects dished out by the PM, the Haridwar district has been progressing apace with the women and the economically weaker sections benefiting immensely.
