On his return from abroad, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi flew straight to Bengaluru on his way to the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) headquarters. While warmly lauding the country’s space scientists for this monumental achievement in the realm of space exploration, he said that though he had been abroad, attending a global conference, his whole heart was in India and ISRO and he was impatiently waiting to come back and meet the ISRO scientists. After the ISRO scientists apprised the PM of the details of the successful moon mission, he addressed them. Importantly, he announced at ISRO headquarters that India would celebrate August 23 as ‘National Space Day’ to mark the successful touch- down of Chandrayaan-3 mission lander.
Earlier, PM was greeted by people who had gathered outside Bengaluru airport. While addressing them, the PM said that India’s momentous space achievement is now resonating across the world.
While addressing the space scientists at ISRO headquarters, he said that sometimes in life, people are overwhelmed with impatience and this time it happened to him, he said emotionally. “Such impatience! Such restlessness! I was in South Africa and from there I went to Greece. But my whole heart was with you. In my case it was impatience while in your case it was a tremendous challenge. I could not help coming to you to meet you early morning,” he said. The ISRO chairman S Somnath handed over to the PM pictures of the Vikram Module and the Rover Pragyan along with those of the lunar surface.
