PM Modi launches health projects worth Rs 37 crore in U’khand

Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated and laid the foundation for health projects costing Rs 11,391 crore in various parts of the nation from Rajkot on Sunday. The projects inaugurated by the PM include health projects worth Rs 37.13 crore in Uttarakhand. These include two units of food safety infrastructure, six units of PM Ayushman health infrastructure and two projects of the National Health Mission. The two food safety infrastructure units costing Rs 87.4 lakh inaugurated by Modi include two mobile food testing units. The projects launched under the PM Aysuhman health infrastructure include the foundation laying for a critical care block costing Rs 20.35 crore and five block public health units costing Rs 4.05 crore. Under the National Health Mission, he laid the foundation stone for a transit hostel for health officials costing Rs 1.98 crore and an urban community health centre costing Rs 9.88 crore.

According to officials, under the Pradhanmantri Ayushman Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM) Prime Minister Modi inaugurated block public health units at Purola in Uttarkashi district, Bhawali in Nainital district, Jakholi in Rudraprayag district, Kapkot in Bageshwar and Barakot in Champawat. Under the National Health Mission, the PM inaugurated an urban community health centre in Haridwar. Similarly, under PM-ABHIM, Modi laid the foundation for a critical care block in the district hospital at Rudrapur in Udham Singh Nagar while under the National Health Mission, he laid the foundation for the construction of a transit hostel for medical officers at the sub district hospital at Srinagar in Pauri district.

Addressing the gathering on the occasion, the PM said that he had dedicated health projects worth Rs 11,391.79 crore to the nation from Rajkot in Gujarat. The five All India Institutes of Medical Sciences dedicated to the nation on Sunday show the swift pace of development taking place in the country. He said that for 50 years after India gained independence, there was only one AIIMS in the nation while in the past 10 days alone the nation has received seven new AIIMS. Modi said that his government is committed to facilitating modern health facilities in the nation. The health infrastructure in the country has changed swiftly during the past 10 years. The PM further said that his government had increased the MBBS seats from 50,000 to one lakh while the PG seats have increased from 30,000 to 70,000. The government is also encouraging Yoga and AYUSH education, the PM added.
