Union minister launches UPES ON website and logo during dialogue in university
Union Education minister Dharmendra Pradhan said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is emerging as the rallying point for the poor. The roadmap for the world was finalised during the G20 summit in New Delhi which also shows the rising stature of India in the global community, he said while speaking at a dialogue on ‘Amritkaal Vimarsh – Vikasit Bharat 2047’ at UPES here on Tuesday. He talked to the students of the university about the G20 summit in India, Amrit Kaal, National Education Policy, science and technology along with digital technology in India and the rising stature of the nation in the global sphere.
Pradhan said that India has emerged as the voice of the global south and in the G20 summit held recently, it also facilitated the inclusion of the African Union in the body. “Prime Minister Modi is becoming the rallying point for the poor of the world. The roadmap for the world was decided upon during the G20 summit recently under PM Modi and India’s leadership,” said Pradhan. Speaking on other areas being focused upon by the Central Government under Modi, he referred to the focus being laid on green energy and sustainability. The Union minister also stressed that new age technology will be a game changer. Expressing his views on UPES, he said that it was a laboratory for the implementation of the National Education Policy and also a global hotspot.
The State’s Higher Education minister Dhan Singh Rawat said that there are 23 private and 12 government universities in the State. The State government has brought in an umbrella act providing many relaxations to the private universities while also empowering them. The private universities will not have to approach the government and Raj Bhawan for everything now, he said. Appreciating the UPES, he referred to its ranking in various spheres and appreciated the fact that students from 17 countries are also studying in the university in addition to students from across the nation.
UPES ON, the website of the UPES distance education programmes being run under its Centre for Continuing Education (CCE) was also launched on the occasion. Its new logo and identity was also launched in the event. The university also announced the offering of 100 scholarships including those for students from economically weaker sections and sportspersons.
The university chancellor Sunil Rai, vice chancellor Ram Sharma and registrar Manish Madaan along with others were also present on the occasion.
