The Bharatiya Janata Party has claimed that the arrival of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the Global Investors Summit in Dehradun will be a golden opportunity for development and employment generation in Uttarakhand. The BJP has planned to welcome the PM at various locations after his arrival in Dehradun on Friday.

Interacting with the media after chairing a meeting with party office bearers, the BJP State president Mahendra Bhatt said that so far the State government has entered into memoranda of understanding for investment worth more than Rs 2,50,000 crore while a large number of industrialists and their representatives are going to attend the summit.

The respect that investors accord to PM Modi and his affection for the people of Uttarakhand is going to ensure the resounding success of this event. This investment will start a new chapter in the development of Uttarakhand and generate a record number of employment opportunities for the youth of the State, he said. It is clear from the MoUs signed till now that the mountainous regions of the State will also see large scale investment which will help decisively resolve the problem of migration from such areas, Bhatt added.

Regarding preparations for Modi’s welcome, the BJP State president said that 1,500 women workers of the party will shower flowers on him while all the party MLAs and senior office bearers will also welcome him at different locations. The rich culture of the State will also be displayed by folk artistes, he said.

On being asked about the silent protest planned by former chief minister and senior Congress leader Harish Rawat, he said that it is better for him to remain silent as Congress leaders were sent as party observers and in-charges to the three States where the party has lost the Assembly elections.
