Terming the PM PRANAM Yojana (PMPY) as a revolutionary step for the farming and farmers, the president of Uttarakhand BJP Mahendra Bhatt has said that the scheme would promote organic farming in the state and would prove to be a return gift for the health of the soil.
He said that PM Modi has given a major gift to the farmers of the country by approving the Rs 3.70 lakh crore scheme. The objective of the PMPY is to promote use of the alternative fertilisers by reducing the usage of the chemical fertilisers. He said that the new scheme would be very beneficial in the context of Uttarakhand. Bhatt said the scheme is unique since it makes a provision of payment of the subsidy saved by reducing sale of Urea and encouraging use of organic fertilizers to the State.
The State would also try to take maximum advantage of the Rs 1451 crore subsidy by promoting Biogas plants. Bhatt said that the BJP led government in the State has adopted a policy to promote organic farming and the new scheme would provide a benefit to the State. He added that Uttarakhand has the potential to provide leadership in this sector.
Bhatt said that apart from the new scheme the government has decided to extend the subsidy scheme to urea till March 2025. Similarly the decision to introduce sulphur coated urea would prove historic and help in removing sulphur deficiency in the soil. The proposal to promote organic farming, natural farming, alternative fertilizer, nano fertilizers and bio fertilisers under PMPY would help in regaining the fertility of the soil. “ The MOdi government has fulfilled its promise of balanced use of alternative and chemical fertilisers by introducing PM PRANAM Yojana,’’ he said.
