For the third time since 41 workers got trapped in the partially caved-in Silkyara tunnel on November 12, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a telephonic conversation with Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami to check on the status of the workers and the rescue efforts. During the telephonic conversation on Monday, PM Modi said that the Central government is providing necessary rescue equipment and resources. The stranded workers will be rescued safely with the coordinated efforts of the Central and State agencies. He also stressed on the need for maintaining the morale of the stranded workers.
Informing the PM about the current status, the Chief Minister said that the Central and State agencies are involved in a coordinated effort to rescue the workers. The workers stuck in the tunnel are safe and they are being provided oxygen, nutritious food and drinking water. The agencies are working on the advice of experts to carry out the rescue operation, he said. Dhami said that he had himself gone to the site of the mishap to inspect the operation and is constantly monitoring the operation. A medical team has also been posted at the site. Dhami further said that all attempts are being made to rescue the stranded workers soon. It is pertinent to mention here that a team from the Prime Minister’s Office has also visited the site and issued necessary instructions regarding the rescue operation. The PMO is also monitoring the operation underway to rescue the stranded workers.
