Uttarkashi is fully prepared for the arrival of Prime Minister Narendra Modi who will visit the Harsil-Mukhwa region on Thursday to promote winter tourism in Uttarakhand. Following an invitation from chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the visit of the PM has generated enthusiasm among the local residents. Many have returned to their native homes from lower-altitude winter residences to be part of the event. The recent snowfall in the region has added shine to the preparations, creating a welcoming atmosphere. As per the official schedule, Modi will first visit Mukhwa (Mukhimath) where he will offer prayers at the Ganga temple. The temple and traditional buildings in Mukhwa have been decorated for the occasion and the entire village has been made ready for his visit. After the temple visit, Modi will reach Harsil at 10:30 AM where he will review an exhibition showcasing Uttarakhand’s winter tourism and local products. He will also flag off motorbike and ATV-RTV rallies for Jadung and PDA along with trekking expeditions to Janaktal and Mulingla. The border regions of Nelong, Jadung, and PDA, known for their cold desert landscapes, have remained largely unexplored for tourism. The inauguration of adventure tourism initiatives is expected to open new opportunities for the region’s development. He is also scheduled to address a public gathering in Harsil. The police have ensured high security alert in all the areas expected to be visited by Modi. The senior most officials of Uttarakhand have been regularly monitoring all preparations ahead of the PM’s arrival.
