PM Vishwakarma Yojana set to be launched

To mark the Vishwakarma Jayanti, the Centre is set to roll out a scheme christened PM Vishwakarma Yojana to help the traditional artisans and craftspeople both in the urban and rural areas to scale up their skill. The Centre further announced that Rs 13, 000 crore would be spent from financial year 2022-23 to 2027-28 in implementing this project. It is learnt that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi would launch this project in New Delhi on the occasion of Vishwakarma Jayanti. The project aims at enhancing the quality of the products produced by the traditional artisans and craftspeople and also expanding their reach to ensure that these are integrated with the domestic and global markets. The scheme involves training and skill enhancement, financial assistance, employment opportunities, online application process and full cost coverage. Notably, the PM had announced this scheme in his Independence Day address from the Red Fort ramparts.
